The Bank of Suzhou 2025 Suzhou Marathon, the first A1-class marathon of the Chinese Athletics Association in East China’s Jiangsu province this year, will be held in Suzhou on Mar 2. Part of the event will take place in SIP.

The event will consist of the full marathon and the half marathon, with 25,000 participants. The finishing point of the full marathon will be at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre in SIP.

The route in SIP extends along Jinji and Dushu lakes, passing by a number of local landmarks which demonstrate SIP’s unique charm characterized by the fusion of historical heritage and modern vitality.

Around the Jinji Lake, there are not only many cultural landmarks such as Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre and Suzhou Eslite Bookstore, but also a number of new projects popular with tourists, like the sculpture called “Flying” and the Jinji Stations featuring distinctive characteristics and themes.

The Dushu Lake section of the route offers a glimpse of the Suzhou Institute for Advanced Research of the University of Science and Technology of China, the Renmin University of China Suzhou Campus and branches of other world-famous universities, and also the industrial clusters focused on nanotech, biomedicine and AI.

The route also leads to the Egrets Park, where plum and camellia blossoms are blooming in full splendor, the gothic Christian church by the lake, and the campsite with a famous tree.

The route also passes by the old Xietang Street which, with a long history, is a perfect place to experience local lifestyles.

During the event, temporary traffic control will be carried out in different ways and during different periods to minimize the impact on the travel of citizens and tourists, and tips on detour routes will be provided for motor vehicles.
