SIP has always been enveloped in a rich ambiance of bookish fragrance, which has been intensified as the World Book Day is celebrated.

In SIP, various studies full of books can be found at the citizen centers, industrial clusters, scenic areas and talent apartment buildings, and the “Reading Buses” run into communities and businesses on weekends to bring books closer to people who love reading.

So far, there have been 350 public reading service outlets across SIP, in addition to abundant digital resources for online reading.

The 2025 SIP Reading Season recently opened, with more than 3,000 events throughout the year. At the opening ceremony, the “Cloud-end Book Cabins” program was launched, offering a number of reading spaces in high places, such as the one in the capsules of the Ferris wheel by Jinji Lake, where the riders can listen to and view digital content on SIP’s “Cultural Cloud” program on WeChat.

Concurrently, the water and rail transit reading routes were launched to make reading resources available in sightseeing boats, subway stations, airport waiting halls and other places.

Authors’ meetings with readers and new book launches are often held in the industrial park, and the “Looking for Book Selectors” campaign was launched in 2022 to encourage the public to select and recommend books to others.

SIP is also endeavoring to integrate reading with large events such as Suzhou Jinji Lake Biennale and Suzhou Jinji Lake China-France Culture and Art Week to popularize reading.

SIP released a three-year action plan early this year to advance the building of “Scholarly SIP” in an all-around way.
