As more and more expatriates have settled in SIP’s Jinji Lake Sub-district, the sub-district authorities have enhanced efforts to help these new residents get used to the local life.
By forming a team of foreign volunteers who speak fluent Chinese, language barriers have been addressed and communication fostered. The volunteer services have allowed expats to keep abreast of the latest dynamics and policies related to them.
Additionally, the living environment has been improved with bilingual signage and a specialized platform called the “Home of Expats” where expats can get help in seeking administrative services, attend various cultural exchange activities, and learn Chinese.
A special service window has been opened for expats at the local administrative service hall in collaboration with SIP Foreign Affairs Office and Suzhou Industrial Park One-stop Service Centre for Expats, and foldouts in both Chinese and English are available.
Apart from that, a WeChat group has been created for foreign residents to learn about local life, and diverse events are organized frequently for them to know better about local culture and speak out their needs and suggestions for local community management.
