A calligraphy exhibition opened at Suzhou Industrial Park Urban Art Space on Jan 18, and will last till Feb 16. On display are over 30 calligraphy works by Liu Canming, a Chinese calligrapher.

Liu obtained a doctoral degree in calligraphy from China Academy of Art (CAA) as a student of Wang Dongling, a calligrapher and professor at CAA. The exhibition demonstrates Liu’s endeavor to learn from classic calligraphy works and create new ones with an open mind and different perspectives.

At the opening ceremony, the calligrapher presented his works to SIP Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Sungent Harmony Development, a member of SIP-based multi-business conglomerate Sungent Group. An activity was carried out concurrently to present Spring Festival couplets to visitors.

On the same day, a seminar was held in Ming Gallery of Art at SIP’s Ligongdi Cultural and Creative Block. Calligraphers from around the country discussed topics concerning the development of the art of calligraphy.
