The Hongqiao Farm Produce Market in SIP’s Weiting Sub-district reopened on Aug 31 after a year of renovation, attracting about 8,000 customers on the first day.

The market, located at Weihe Road, was built in 2011, with a total floor area of 11,763.93 square meters. The renovation was launched last year to upgrade the ageing facilities.

At the reopening ceremony, the “Happy Rainbow” Neighborhood Service Circle was formed, and the “Happy Partnership” program was launched. Under the program, a number of communities, schools and resident service centers near the market will join hands to provide 10 services for nearby businesses, residents, outdoor workers and other groups. These services include legal advice, a rest space for delivery workers, and job information.

The renovated market boasts a better environment and well-equipped facilities for ventilation, fire prevention, evacuation, safety monitoring and environmental management. And the number of stalls has been increased from 60 to 71 in order to better meet customers’ needs.

At the same time, the management of the market has been improved. There is a fast test office which tests products at the request of the buyers, and all the sources of the agricultural and sideline products can be traced. In addition, intelligent electronic scales and electronic displays are used to make information about the products easily accessible to the buyers.
