The opening ceremony of the 2025 SIP Reading Season was held in SIP on Apr 18.
The event is sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC SIP Working Committee and SIP Culture, Sports and Tourism Office, and organized by SIP Public Cultural Center in collaboration with the offices of sub-districts and SIP Reading Alliance.
At the opening ceremony, the “Cloud-end Book Cabins” program was launched, offering a number of reading spaces in high places, such as the one in the capsules of the Ferris wheel by Jinji Lake, where the riders can listen to and view digital content on SIP’s “Cultural Cloud” program on WeChat.
Concurrently, the water and rail transit reading routes were launched to make reading resources available in sightseeing boats, subway stations, airport waiting halls and other places.
The new book launch platform was unveiled to introduce readers to a list of new books including a novel by Suzhou-native writer Fan Xiaoqing.
Yu Zhongxian, former editor-in-chief of World Literature, professor at Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a Lu Xun Literature Translation Award laureate, showed up with his new book, and had a dialogue with readers.
SIP’s public culture mascot made it debut.
SIP Library and several partners of SIP Reading Alliance jointly launched the “Read for Books” campaign, calling on the public to participate in online reading.
The 2025 SIP Reading Season reportedly consists of more than 3,000 events throughout the year.
